We chose this Comfort Inn because of the Comfort Inn reputation, complimentary WiFi and breakfast, well-lit parking lot, and because it was close to I-80. The lobby was clean and GM Lorrie was very welcoming. We typically ask to see the room before we stay if we are in an unfamiliar hotel, but we had confidence the rooms would be as nice as the lobby. As we opened our room door, I commented how clean it smelled, but I was horrified that the first thing I saw when we turned on the light was a nasty looking stain on the carpet. Looking from the door to the opposite wall, the entire carpet was filthy and stained. Even though the room seemed clean and the beds were good, this ruined the entire stay. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect a room where I feel comfortable. We should have asked to be moved to a different room, but we were tired after driving 12 hours and had already settled in with our luggage. As silly as it sounds, I slept in my socks. When I spoke to Lorrie about it the next morning, she apologized and said the carpets are scheduled for replacement this winter. I told her that if we had known how bad they were before we hauled our luggage in, we never would have stayed. If we had been offered a partial refund or some gesture of goodwill, I probably wouldn’t even be leaving this review. This is not a critique of Lorrie, because I understand she could only do so much. Moral of the story: Never assume; ask to see your room.

Friendly staff. Our room was very clean - though lacking baseboards. The bathroom fan sounded like a prop airplane ready to take off. That said, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Located just off of the interstate. The included breakfast was standard fare. Nothing to write home about. At least it got something in our stomach before we were back on the road.
