York House Hotel

Couldn’t fault this boutique hotel. Hosts were very friendly. Excellent key card security system for front and inner door. A plus in today’s world. Our room was spacious, very clean throughout and comfortable. A big bonus was the fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast was plentiful and a great selection. Something for everyone. There is a vending machine in the lounge/hall is you require a chocolate or midnight munchie fix. The only small downside is the hotel has limited parking, however thats down to the corner position of the hotel and there is plenty of parking nearby. Another bonus was breakfast was available early on the Sunday morning for anyone completing or spectating at the Great North Run. The hotel is also a 5-10 minute walk from all amenities. Decor is very dated but good condition. Location is not quite near the city center , 20 quid taxi ride or 20 minute walk to metro. Definately needed a pre visit inspection would have seen big collection of insects on windows No hot water in shower , maybe us not knowing how it operates

The overall place was nice, neat and clean. Location wise it was ideal however the towels provided had holes in them. It would be really nice if they provided facilities to refill water bottles with filtered drinking water instead of filling our bottles from the washroom tap!

Paul was a welcoming host on our final night of walking across Britain. My wife especially appreciated that he was the only host (over eight nights) who troubled himself to bring our (heavy) luggage up to our room! The room was comfortable and clean with modern fixtures and decor. Breakfast was timely and very good; his offerings were more upscale than the traditional fare we've been used to. And he was helpful in providing information about how to make our London train out of Newcastle. All in all a very nice experience & highly recommended.

Just returned home from a 3 night stay. Welcomed by a nice lady who showed us how to use the keyless system then we were left to it. Our room was a superior on the 1st floor, easy to get to up a few steps. The room was average sized with a fairly comfortable bed and a nice sized shower. Unfortunately 2 mornings the water was cold. I don't mind a cool shower but many won't. A few *******. The back of the wall on the toilet unit had a golf ball size hole in it which was sharp, and there were the odd cobweb. Only 2 portions of milk and one ginger biscuit (at least leave 2) Nothing to write home about. The bed was comfortable and there were nice big windows that could be opened to let the world in. A fan, hairdryer kettle etc and there was Netflix & a Google smart speaker which was very handy. Excellent location and yes, it can be a bit noisy but it's on a main street. The smells were amazing coming from all the restaurants. There was a little bar which the owners state could be utilised for a drink if you ask but I think they may be missing a trick by not using it as a selling point? Parking is plentiful around the place, the most you have to walk is a few yards ( and I have a blue badge). Thanks for having us Overall a lovely stay. Thank you
