This exceptional work has garnered numerous accolades, including being selected for an American Book Award, a National Book Critics Circle finalist in autobiography, and an Eisner Award finalist in reality-based comics. It has also been recognized by influential figures such as Bill Gates, who included it in his top five picks for 2017. Additionally, Thi Bui's talent as an illustrator shines in the picture book "A Different Pond," written by the renowned poet Bao Phi, for which she received a Caldecott Honor.
