Experience the enchanting beauty of Newport's moonlit cityscape with Bike Newport's monthly Full Moon Rides. These captivating rides, generously sponsored by AARP Rhode Island, offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the picturesque coastal views of our seaside town. Join us for the final Full Moon Ride of the 2023 season, as we gather at Equality Park in downtown Newport and embark on a captivating journey along the scenic harbor, bay, and ocean. As the sun sets and the moon rises, witness the ethereal glow that illuminates our route. Each month, registration for the ride becomes available after the previous ride concludes. Tickets for the October 28th ride will be released on September 29th at 10:00 pm. Stay updated on all announcements related to the event by following @bikenewportri on social media. While a suggested donation of $10 per rider is appreciated, it is not mandatory. Your donations play a crucial role in supporting Bike Newport's inclusive programs for bike safety education and advocacy. A 'Donate' option will be available during checkout. We are thrilled to announce that the Full Moon Ride series will return for another season in 2024. Prepare yourself for a mesmerizing 15-mile ride along Newport's scenic roads and coastline. This ride is exclusively for participants aged 18 and above. The ride on October 28th will gather at 4:45 pm and commence at 5:15 pm, coinciding with the sunset at 5:45 pm and the moonrise at 5:38 pm. It is highly recommended to arrive 20-30 minutes before the start of the ride. To secure your spot, registration is mandatory for each ride. Complete the registration form and mark your calendars as spaces tend to fill up quickly. If your plans change and you are unable to attend, kindly cancel your reservation to allow others to join. The 2023 Full Moon Ride Dates include Pink Moon on Thursday, April 6th, Flower Moon on Friday, May 5th, Strawberry Moon on Saturday, June 3rd, Super Buck Moon on Monday, July 3rd, Super Sturgeon Moon on Tuesday, August 1st, Super Blue Moon on Wednesday, August 30th, Super Harvest Moon on Friday, September 29th, and Hunter's Moon on Saturday, October 28th. For this night ride, we emphasize the importance of safety. Riders must wear a helmet and have a front headlight, as well as a rear red blinking light. These are mandatory requirements for participating in the ride. Additionally, please make sure your lights are fully charged. Don't forget to bring your water bottle, snack, and bicycle lock. Before you join us, ensure that your bike is in good working order by checking the air pressure, brakes, and gears. An air pump will be available at the start of the ride. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions, as the ride will be canceled if it is deemed unsafe due to weather or road conditions. Updates will be shared on our social media platforms @BikeNewportRI. This ride navigates through downtown streets and is suitable for riders comfortable with traffic. We prioritize the health and safety of our participants by adhering to current CDC recommendations. The route includes Marlborough St, America's Cup Ave, lower Thames St, Wellington Ave, King's Park, Fort Adams State Park, the Ocean Loop, Bellevue Ave, Touro St, and Spring St. We appreciate your registration and look forward to riding alongside you.
