The session will be open to any participants in skateboard, scooter and BMX who would like to increase their skill level and get advice on tricks. There will be mini challenges held during the session with lots of prizes to be given away. Participants can register for the sessions on line via the link below. Participants can also register on the day. All thanks to the City of Wanneroo. The jam session runs for 3 hours. Participants can come and go as they please. There is no groups allocated to Freestyle Now coaches in this session. It is an open session in relation to the coaching side. Mini challenges and fun skatepark games are the main focus. At the beginning and end of the session Freestyle Now will host a skatepark information session the help educate participants and parents on all things related to skatepark use (etiquette, safety, equipment) The workshop sessions would be open to any participant over the age of 6. Freestyle Now squad members would be present to offer participants technical advice, trick tips, skill development and skatepark etiquette. Our facilitators analyze the participant's skill level and work from that base and assist with confidence building. Skills can be taught but confidence cannot. It is important to not only just focus on skill building but confidence as well. By using their own skill base as a stepping stone we are able to help them advance. Our instructors speak the participant’s language and speak on their level. Our instructors relay this safety message to our participants and reiterate the importance of helmets and how they can minimize injuries. All participants would need their own equipment and would also be required to wear a helmet and closed in shoes. Participants with defective equipment may not be able to participate. Our facilitators are not able to make major repairs to participants equipment during the session. Participants under the age of 6 will be taken on their ability to understand and follow instructions and to control their apparatus. We are looking for children young people who meet the following HAF criteria and can commit to attending the activity day. Must be between 4 and 6 years of age, must live in St Helens eligible for free school meals or receipt of a support plan or on an EHCP plan SEND Friendly – Providers at the event/venue have general SEND awareness and small adjustments can be made. SEND Accessible – Physically accessible venue or event, don't hesitate to get in touch with us in advance if there is anything that we may need to know to make the activity more enjoyable and support your children. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Are there any costs involved? This project is funded by St Helens Council and the Department for Education. This means that the sessions are all free of charge for young people from St Helens who are eligible for free school meals or receipt of a support plan or on an EHCP plan. Spaces are limited so booking a place in advance is essential Please be aware that anyone who reserves places on our activities and doesn't attend multiple times without cancelling will be removed from our current and future HAF registers, this is to ensure that families who want to attend aren't missing out due to families booking multiple activities on the same day for increased choice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional information about HAF eligibility Funded by the Department for Education, our FREE holiday activities and food (HAF) programme have been a huge success, providing healthy food and enriching activities for primary and secondary school-aged children eligible for benefits-related free school meals. The HAF programme aims to support children to eat more healthily, be more active over the school holidays and have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition, as well as be more engaged with school and other local services. Is my child eligible? The HAF programme is primarily for children aged 4-18 years who are eligible for and receiving benefits-related free school meals (FSM), and their families. This is a creative workshop where we look at creating a design, transfering to lino, the carve and creating a set of prints. The structure of the workshop How to create a linocut design and transfer it to the Lino (no drawing skills required).We learn about the tools and how to achieve the marks we want in our design.You will gain tips and tricks to get the best out of your carve and prints.We look at the best inking process and how to achieve well transferred prints with and without a press.During this workshop I talk about using Etsy to sell your work.Everyone has a great time with this workshop and I am used to providing it for groups, whether its a special event or a 'just because' get together. This linocut workshop is perfect for the beginner and you dont need to be able to draw, I always provide ideas for you to use. If you want to bring any sketchbooks or inspiration, bring it along but this workshop is very much process led in order to set you up in case you want to continue with it at home. If you have already done Linocut for beginners, I do other linocut workshops where you can try linocut for portraits or the multi colour reduction linocut technique. On The Day We meet on the farm from 9.30am to grab a cuppa, and we get started at 9.45am. If you have an old apron you dont mind getting ink on, bring it along. I have aprons if you dont. The studio is a fully equipped printmaking studio that I use for my own work. Bring a snack as there are no shops nearby. The postcode PL12 5AL will give you good directions but just ensure you go to Holwood Business Centre on the farm; it is signposted. On arrival you will see the converted studios and the parking available. I recommend looking it up prior to the Saturday so that if you need to check anything with me, I will have time to answer.
