The Windsor Ultra is an exciting part of the Thames Challenge, a four-day event that showcases the endurance and determination of ultrarunners. Taking place on August 10, 2024, this event is the third day of the challenge series. Participants must arrive at The Catherine Wheel, J D Wetherspoon in Henley between 7.00am and 7.30am for registration and equipment checks. The race will begin promptly at 8.00am after a comprehensive race brief. Competitors are responsible for their own transportation to the start and from the finish. The route for the Windsor Ultra takes participants along the scenic Thames, from Henley to Seven Corner Alley and Marlow Lock. The course then continues through various picturesque locations, including Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, and Windsor Castle. The race concludes at Albany Canoe & Sailing Centre, which also serves as Camp-Site Three for Thames Challenge participants. Throughout the race, there will be four well-stocked checkpoints offering water and nourishment options such as malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, nuts, dried fruits, and sweets. The organizers strive to accommodate dietary preferences, including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. To ensure a smooth and fair race, participants must maintain a minimum pace of 4 mph, including stops. Failure to meet this requirement will result in disqualification from the Thames Challenge.
