Second Beach: swimming resort Second Beach and Badaguan line up with each other, which makes Qingdao’s typical red brick and green trees, with blue seas and skies a beautiful scenery. Second Beach is smaller than the No. 1 Bathing beach. It has fewer tourists and a better environment. Also the water here is cleaner, with small and slow waves, making it a summer swimming resort. Chairman Mao who’s fond of swimming loves this beach, and went swimming here several times. There are also lots of cobblestones on the west side of the beach, where lots of swimmers come to pick up. Since there’s a lot of reef in the area, it’s good for finding seashells, and seeing lots of living creatures such as hermit crabs and starfish. The sand is very fine, and it’s suitable to walk in barefoot. There is also a stone bridge which extends to the sea, and you can walk and feel closer to the sea.
Golden Beach is located in Huangdao, and named after the golden colored sand. The sand of Golden Beach is the best in Qingdao, it’s more fine compared to the other major beaches in the area. Golden Beach has a broad coast line, and it’s far away from the noise, with fewer swimmers. You can walk or run barefoot here, and enjoy the smooth feeling of the sand under your foot. You can also bring your kids here to build sand sculptures, or fly a kite or walk in the waves or swim. Golden Beach holds the Golden Beach Cultural Tourism Festival every summer, where there are exciting performances and singing contests.
Shilaoren Bathing Beach is Qingdao’s biggest bathing beach. It neighbors the southern part of the Polar Ocean World. And from the east, you can see the huge stone in the middle of the sea. The stone looks like an old man sitting in the middle of the sea. It’s a sea-eroded column of stone shaped by the ocean wind and waves over millions of years. The Shilaoren Bathing Beach is a flat slope. Many people think that the water is clearer than other beaches in the area, and a lot of local people like to go swimming here. There are fewer people here, the air is fresher, and the sand is very soft. Strolling on the beach and sun bathing make it very enjoyable.
No. 1 Bathing Beach is one of Qingdao’s older city beaches. The beach is crowded with swimmers every July to September. People swim here and enjoy the sea air while laying down on the beach. People can ride a jet ski or speedboat while speeding through the waves, and enjoying the summer time. Although it’s not recommended to swim in No. 1 Bathing Beach during the spring and autumn, but it’s a good place to go sightseeing and strolling along the beach. You can walk with your loved ones along the 500 m shoreline, breathing in the fresh air. You can also take pictures of the beautiful scenery of the sea and the mountains, and also the sunset.
The Third Sea Bathing Beach is also called the Shanhaitian Bathing Beach. It’s located at the east side of the Taipingjiao. Although it’s not big, the sea water is very clear. There are several different styles of changing rooms at the beach. There’s hot water in the shower room, and it’s suitable for people who are not used to cold water shower. Compared to the No. 1 Bathing Beach, Third Sea Bathing Beach is much quieter. Surrounded with beautiful scenery where you can also see sailboats and fishing boats. You can swim on one side of the fine sand. You can also rent parasols, tables and chairs. Cold drinks, swim wear and swimming rings are also available for sale.
Yangkou Beach is located inside the Yangkou Scenic Area. The beach is broad, flat, and has good sand quality. It has better sand quality than any other beach in the Qingdao suburb. Yangkou Beach is a crescent shaped bay in Yangkou Bay, stretching 22 km long. The islands are called Daguan Island, Xiaoguan Island and Rabbit Island. The Yangkou Beach is not a standard bathing beach, as it doesn’t have any life guards. For your safety, swimming here is not advisable.
Silver Sands Bathing Beach is located at the southwest side of the Phoenix Island Resort. It’s a 2 km long beach that forms a crescent shape and stretches in both directions. The water is clear and the beach is flat. It’s a natural bathing beach. The sun reflects off the soft sand and looks like a silver plate embedded in the blue silk. It’s how it got it’s name. To the south of Silver Beach is the Yellow Sea, while black pine forests are north. It’s intertwined with the sun, sea, beach and pine forests. It’s the best place to take a vacation and relax.
Zhangqiao Bathing Beach is adjacent to the train station, and it’s also called the Sixth Bathing Beach. It’s a narrow and small beach. It’s known for the trestle, and modern high rise buildings. Most of the sand on the Zhanqiao beach is new, and the sand is soft. it is especially suitable for beach play. You can also see Small Qingdao from afar. During the evening, the navigation lights in Small Qingdao intertwine with the sand to create a magnificent night view.
