10 Must-see Sights of Cebu
There are many historical sites in the urban area of Cebu, and Fort San Pedro is one of them. It's one of the oldest castles in the Philippines, and was built when the Spanish first arrived here. During World War II, the castle was used against the Japanese army. Under U.S. military rule, it was used as the officers' quarters. Now it has been transformed into a school. There is a museum in the fort, displaying some art treasures which are well worth seeing. You can also find some historical exhibits of the Chinese Ming Dynasty.

Malapascua island looks like a luffa stem, which is where it got its name. This long, narrow island is like paradise, and is famous for its primitiveness, tranquility and diving spots. When diving here, you have a chance to go to the only place in the world where you can see thresher sharks. It's very suitable for parents and children to watch the sharks together. Both the nearby Carnassa Island and Calangaman Island have beautiful beaches and excellent snorkeling spots. The island tour includes snorkeling and dolphin watching, at a cost of about 3000 pesos per day.

Located near Magellan's Cross, the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino was rebuilt in 1740 AD and has a history of more than 200 years. It is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines. In one of the rooms of the church, there is a young Jesus statue. It is said that Magellan gave it to the queen of Cebu in 1521. Many local people wait in a long queue to pray here. The church has been bombed many times, but Santo Nino in the church was not damaged at all, so the local people call it a miracle. Worshiping Santo Nino has become a religious ceremony on the island. There is also a wishing pool in the church, which is said to be able to cure all kinds of diseases. Many Catholics can be seen sincerely praying by the pool.

Magellan's Cross is a very respected cross among the local people. The beautiful painting on the dome is the perfect interpretation of the story of this cross, which is very vivid. It is said that the local people thought that small pieces of the cross can cure all kinds of diseases, so they took away its outer layer. Later, in order to protect the cultural relic, a pavilion-like house was built to surround it. Every Sunday morning, there are many religious men and women who come to Magellan's Cross with candles to pray for their safety and health. For ordinary tourists, the cross is of high aesthetic value.

Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary, located in the west of Cebu City, presents a wonderful world to tourists. In Jumalon's garden, butterflies are everywhere, on the branches and leaves. It is very suitable for bringing kids to visit. In addition to sightseeing, you can also find butterfly specimens and handicrafts in the sanctuary. The venue is not large, and you can stay for about 0.5-1 hours. It is best to come in the morning, and June to February are the ideal months to visit.

Oslob is located in the south of Cebu. It is famous for whale sharks. It gathers visitors from all over the world who want to see whale sharks. You can choose to watch whale sharks in a boat without going into the water, or you can snorkel or dive deep to swim alongside them. You can ask the staff to help you take photos. Renting underwater cameras will cost a certain fee. After shooting, the photos will be burned onto a disc for you as a souvenir. It should be noted that whale shark watching is only available in the morning. Please book a time in advance.

Metropolitan Cebu Cathedral is one block away from the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino. It's a relatively new church. Compared with the decadent Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, it is clean, solemn and simple, combining the style of modern minimalism and classical church architecture. Metropolitan Cebu Cathedral is a little less famous than Basilica Minore del Santo Nino. But it's very close to Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, and you can get there on foot.

Colon Street is one of the oldest streets in the Philippines. There are some old colonial buildings, as well as rows of shops, cinemas, and restaurants, etc. Colon Street is at the heart of the city. It's a busy business district in the daytime, with many small vendors and large-scale shopping malls along the street. At night, it becomes a fascinating and bustling entertainment center. The Colon Street area gives people a sense of antiquity. When walking along it, it feels like you've gone back in time.

Karaganman Island is an island with excellent water quality in the Cebu area. It is a popular holiday resort in Cebu. It is famous for its stretches of white powdery sand beaches and its crystal clear blue waters. There are many places around it for snorkeling. You can also camp here and enjoy the sunset. Although the island isn't large, the surrounding water is crystal clear. When the sun shines on it, it's like a piece of jelly supporting itself gently. On the white sand beach, the shadows of trees are dancing, and all kinds of colors are mixed together, like a beautiful medieval oil painting.

The Taoist Temple, built in 1948 on the hillside of the northern suburb of Cebu, is a temple dedicated to Laozi, a Chinese philosopher. Most of the residents in Cebu are half or all Chinese, so the temple largely reflects local Chinese traditions. Walking up from a Taoist Temple, you can overlook the scenery of Cebu with a very broad view. There is a zoo and a museum about 2 km from the Taoist Temple. It is said that there is a holy spring that can cure all kinds of diseases on the way to the Taoist Temple.
