As we arrived 30 minutes before the official check-in time of 14:00, the staff member on duty had to call the host to determine if we could occupy the room. The host responded in Afrikaans, which I speak fluently despite having a foreign name, indicating that we were too early, the room was not ready, and we should return after 14:30. When we inquired about nearby dining options for a late lunch or early dinner, given that we had been traveling since early morning, the staff member informed us that restaurants only opened at 18:30. No additional advice or assistance was provided, which appeared to be due to inadequate staff training rather than any fault of the staff member. We then resorted to sitting in our car and using various apps to find a place to eat. During this time, the host arrived hastily but did not acknowledge us. We eventually found an excellent restaurant called The Great White House, which I highly recommend. The service and food were exceptional, and the restaurant operates all day. Upon our return around 16:30, our room was ready. While unpacking, someone, presumably the host, entered our room without knocking, saw us, and left without any greeting or apology—an unusual and uncomfortable occurrence. On the day of our departure, as we needed to leave early before 08:30, we requested some yogurt, muesli, and fruit to be placed in our fridge the previous evening. Although we were told this was possible, it never arrived, leaving us without breakfast. This again reflected insufficient staff training. Guests should be prepared to manage independently regarding local dining and attractions, and ensure their room is securely locked to avoid unexpected entries.
