Yunnan Brief Guide

Yunnan stands out with its diverse landscapes and rich cultural tapestry, offering a unique blend of ethnic heritage and natural beauty. The region is particularly renowned for its picturesque ancient towns, with Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La being quintessential stops. These towns not only highlight traditional architecture and local customs but also act as gateways to exploring the varied geographical marvels, ranging from mystical mountains to serene lakes. Visitors to Yunnan can explore the Stone Forest in Kunming, known for its magnificent stone formations, wander through historic streets in Dali Ancient Town, or marvel at the Three Pagodas. The scenic Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake in Dali offer tranquil nature escapes. Adventurous souls may venture to the Tiger Leaping Gorge for a challenging trek, while those seeking cultural immersion can explore the rich Tibetan traditions at Shangri-La's Songzanlin Lamasery.

Yunnan Best Time To Visit

Yunnan is best visited all year round, in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these two months, the climate is mild, allowing for comfortable sightseeing and outdoor activities. The pleasant weather and the ethnic festivals in these two months add cultural richness to the traveling experience. Another recommended period is November to April, when there is less rainfall, clearer skies, and the chance to witness local festivals, such as the Water Festival in April.

What People Are Saying About Yunnan

Stone Forest Scenic Area

avatar

As a world cultural heritage, Shilin Scenic Area is recommended. The inside is divided into large stone forests and small stone forests. The large stone forests and small stone forests have their own characteristics. The large stone forests are spectacular and thick. People in them are very small. The small stone forests are particularly beautiful and have a feeling of visiting the garden. Time allows it to suggest that the size of the stone forest are strolled, and they are all strolled down for at least 4 hours.

Yun Nan Nation Village

Superb ethnic village, let children understand 25 ethnic characteristics, children in reality than in the book middle school more meaningful, can also remember the history and national culture faster and more firmly, not only enjoy the beauty, but also learn knowledge

Yulong Snow Mountain

It snowed for several days, and the snow-capped trip was put to the end. Although it was not open to the 4680 plank road in the end, fortunately, I also took the big cableway to the glacier park. The final result was two hours in line... 5 minutes of sightseeing, white snow can not see anything, after going down the mountain, Going to the Blue Moon Valley, the lake of copper sulfate is really praise!

Lugu Lake Scenic Area

The Lugu Lake I went to at the end of October was beautiful and the air quality was high. Unfortunately, the weather was warm that day and I didn't see the morning mist, but the seagulls were very enthusiastic. Living in Daluoshui Village, very close to the lake, it is convenient and delicious to eat around.

Cangshan Mountain

Convenient and fast, Cangshan's oxygen content is very high! Slow down 👣 It was a bit cloudy on the day I went. I didn't see the whole picture of the ancient city. It was a pity! But I saw many birds and squirrels in Cangshan. 🐿️ Squirrels are very fat and not very afraid of people.

Erhai Lake

[Scenery] The ecology of Erhai Lake is very good, the water is clear, there are groups of seagulls and wild ducks. [Fun] Self-driving around the island is highly recommended, and it is a must for Internet celebrities to check in and take pictures. It is also very pleasant to stop and go along the coast near the electric car hotel. [Value for money] The sea view room I chose in the hotel has a large floor-to-ceiling window, and you can watch wild ducks playing in the water and seagulls chasing each other directly from the window... The hotel is a little expensive, but it is worth it.

Tiger Leaping Gorge

Tiger Leaping Gorge is very good 👍🏻 with my mother, it is really spectacular. The first Gorge of the Yangtze River is well-deserved and the transportation is convenient. The management of the scenic spot is very good, that is, you need to buy a ticket and bring your ID card. Recommend everyone to come, it is worth it.

Putatso National Park

The park has a nice landscape, but we came at the wrong season. It was quite desolate in winter, and there weren't many plants. I didn't see the mushrooms I wanted to find the most. I searched and found that they were only available in June at the earliest. It should be quite beautiful in summer. I hope I can come again in summer.

Old Town of Lijiang

avatar
谭天扫雪
When you come to Lijiang, you must go to the ancient city of Lijiang. The layout of the ancient city is based on water. The water source comes from Heilongtan and runs through the river to form the landscape of "homely running water and household weeping willow". The street is surrounded by mountains and water systems, forming a maze-like pattern, meaning "gossip array", which has both defense and drainage functions. There are many shops in the ancient city, and the decoration style of each store is different, forming the unique style of Lijiang Ancient City.
