Dingcun Site

Dingcun Site, located on the banks of the Li River near Dingcun, 4 kilometers away from Linyi City, Shanxi Province, Xiang Li County, is 35 kilometers away from Linyi City, from Shicun to the north and Chaizhuang to the south, about 11 kilometers long.[1] It is a Paleolithic site containing ancient human fossils.

There are many archaeological relics in the Dingcun site, and there are centralized displays in the Ding Village Folk Museum. Although the ancients did not have advanced automation now, their wisdom is now that people can not fully appreciate, in fact, in order to survive and reproduce, the more difficult and vicious environment, the more need to create a suitable environment for life, the ancients are constantly fighting with nature, In practice, exploring and finding various favorable factors that can change their environment has continued to this day. Dingcun's houses were built in the Ming and Qing generations, and are mostly courtyard structures. There are currently 26 courtyards. Each courtyard is different from the merchant compound in Jinzhong in scale. It is more reflected in the living function. Each courtyard is exquisite, dignified and generous, and the decoration is gorgeous. Most of the courtyards are built with main halls, halls, gates and vans, all of which are masonry and wood structure. The building components have characters, flowers, birds, animals, classical operas, historical stories and other wood carvings, masonry and stone carving patterns, the steps of the house, pillars, beams, windows and windows are also various paintings and sculptures, and the sculpture art is very exquisite. The first experience is to enter the deep house compound, the walls are very high, with a strong protection function, of course, these residences or large families of wealth should first do a good job of self-protection, all in reason. The same family has the same door between different courtyards, mainly to facilitate mutual access, but also an escape channel when accidents occur, for strangers, it is difficult to understand the internal structure for a short time, which is indeed a means for preventing emergencies. The Dingcun site is on both sides of the Li River near Dingcun, Jixian County, Shanxi Province. It is a site in the middle of the Paleolithic era in northern China and one of the most important Paleolithic cultural sites in China. In 1953, it was discovered and in 1954 was made a key excavation. The Institute of Paleovertebrate Animals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanxi Provincial Antiquities Administration Committee were excavated under the chairmanship of Jia Lanpo, and three fossils of Dingcun people belonging to the early Homo sapiens were unearthed, and two thousand and five pieces of Paleolithic tools such as fossils of various animals have been unearthed. In 1961, it was announced by the State Council as a key cultural relics protection unit in the country. Because it was found in Ding Village, it was named Ding Village. Now Ding Village has been developed as a folk museum.
