The temple name comes from a spring called Yongcheon under the Daeungjeon Stream. It is said that this spring leads to the Yellow Sea and that dragons lived and ascended to heaven. In 645 (King of Chai) Gakjin was resurrected, and in 1275 (King Chungryeol of Goryeo) Gakjin was resurrected.
