What travelers say:

The 91-meter-high bell tower in Ghent is the tallest in Belgium. It was built in 1313 and the uppermost part of the bell tower has been rebuilt several times, partly to accommodate the growing bells. In 1851, a neo-Gothic cast iron minarets were placed on the tower. The iron minarets were demolished in 1911-1913 and replaced by the current stone minarets. Now the bell tower has become a landmark in the old town of Ghent.
