Elmina Castle, the indelible old debt owed by the colonists to Africa and Ghana! Need them to pay back! Need them to repent for generations! Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482 and is the oldest European building in sub-Saharan Africa. The Elmina castle was originally a trading port and later became a major stronghold of the Atlantic slave trade. The Dutch occupied the port in 1637. The slave trade lasted for 400 years.
