Although he was a master general who made the foundation of Aizu and was placed at a glance by Oda Nobunaga and Hideyoshi Toyotomi, the grave was quietly built in the precincts of Kotokuji Temple and I felt lonely.

It's in a magnificent temple.

I knew it immediately because there was a prominent monument on the main street. There were many stone monuments and signboards before arriving at the main body of the tomb.

It is the grave of Gamo Ujisato, a Sengoku warlord who served Oda Nobunaga. It was next to the main hall of Kotokuji Temple, which is located on the east back of Shinmei-dori. Gamo Ujisato is said to have a deep connection with Aizu, such as building Tsuruga Castle and maintaining the castle town, and promoting the lacquer ware industry that is handed down to the present. I thought the tomb of the Gorinto was rare.

興徳寺内です

神明通りの裏、興徳寺内になります。裏になりますが、所々に「蒲生氏郷の墓」の案内があるので行けると思います。五輪塔の墓には「空・風・火・水・地」とあります。会津は幕末のことばかりになりがちですが、蒲生氏郷が会津にこなければ始まらなかったといっても良いでしょう。墓前には辞世の歌碑があります。

会津若松城の基盤を築いた武将。

会津若松を訪問した後、北側に向かい市役所を過ぎると豪徳寺というお寺があります。その境内にひっそりと会津城の基盤を築いた戦国武将蒲生氏郷の墓所がありました。訪れる人もまばらでゆっくりと見学出来ました。
